The second is a structure in one of the squares in the city. Yes, yes, it's a cigarette butt. Children were playing on it! How odd!
Then there's the picture of morfar and david in the Maribo train station. Such handsome men!
The next two are some beautiful detailing underneath some windows. If you double-click on the images, they will become big for you see.
Well, it's Thursday, August 14 today. We're still at Amin's house, but hunting madly for another place to stay. He has a new show coming up soon and next week he'll be really focused on preparing for it. So the house in being cleared of all people not associated with the show...which includes his girlfriend (she's going to her mother's for hte week) and us. So, we move on Monday...to where? Not sure yet. We've contacted another family member to see if we could temporarily stay with her. We're praying she'll say yes. Tomorrow we will be checking out an apartment out by the airport, yet close to the city. I'm really excited about it b/c the price is GREAT, the location is excellent, and the beach is near:) We just gotta hope that it's not already taken and that we won't get swindled if we get it.
This weekend we're going out of the city to a wedding, which we're excited about. I'll be posting pix of that.
Have I mentioned that we started Danish classes already? We took our assessments, and it turns out that our level of Danish is at least 4 steps above what we expected!!! Not only that, but even though Dave has to pay $100 per course, I pay nothing:) The gov't pays for me. We are in different classes b/c Dave is one step ahead of me (I'm so proud of him:) My class is great! My teacher talks really fast, yet clearly. He's really kind and patient, and he makes sure we learn through a variety of medium. Here's the funny thing: Dave loves grammar, but his vocabulary is poor. My vocabulary is much, but my grammar is weak. I love his textbook b/c it focuses on vocabulary. He loves my text b/c it focuses on grammar. So, we are the precise classes that we need to be in:)
We are expecting to start work next week. Our CV's and cover letters have been given to two places that have expressed interest in hiring us. So we wait, and while we wait, we write new cover letters and prepare other CV's to apply to more jobs if we need to.
Neways, homesickness has settled in a little. Things here have been a little frusterating, not to mention challenging! When that's the case, I really begin to feel like a stranger in a strange land. But, though things are going slower than I'd like, we ARE figuring things out. And, we're learning things that we never would have learned in Toronto. So, it's been worth it.
So, today, Dave and I will head to the bank to figure out some details about paying 3month deposits on an apartment, then he'll head to class, and i'll head home to start packing up.
I hope all is well with you in Canada. Send me an email and let me know how you're doing. I do miss all of you.
Heather:)
